A little insight – Abby

August 1, 2017

Abby and Jake are students from Norwich University who arrived in Tanzania in June. They had both traveled abroad to Tanzania before, however it was with a group. When Abby was asked how being there early has affected her, this was her response;

Its almost been a month for Jake and I. Being here without a large group is definitely different. The schedule is more relaxed, and we are able to spend time really getting to know the kids and the staff here at the Center.
The Center is starting to really become my home with a whole other family. When I’m in town, I find myself saying “are we heading home?” Or “back to the house?” I look forward to seeing the kids after school every day, helping Neida in the kitchen, or simply just relaxing and having a good laugh with Maria and Annette.
Often I find myself thinking ‘what if I hadn’t come for this long’ And I always think I couldn’t have chosen a better way to spend my summer.
