How did you use your summer to prepare for Tanzania? This article was written by Alicia, the newest member of our group, she is a member of the Northfield Rotary Club.

P–  Packing lists, to-do lists, to-buy lists are all parts of my summer manifesto, and are scattered throughout my planner, on my desk and on my dining room table.

R–  Realizing that two weeks is soon, work days are short, and there is less and less time for those self-guided Swahili lessons I’ve been meaning to do.
E–  Ensuring I am immunized from typhoid, hep A, tetanus, not wanting any malady to to sidetrack this trip.
P–  Preparing mentally for the time away from my daughters, hoping time is at once fast and slow during the three weeks in Tanzania.
A–  Awed that this is happening.  And excited to do something that I’ve never done before, and go somewhere I’ve never been.
R–  Recognizing the immense gratitude that I feel for the students, the program, the organizers.
E–  Envisioning life after Pommerin.  How will I have changed?
