October is American Archives Month, when we celebrate the positive impact that archives have on our communities. Here in the NU Archives, we believe that connecting the Norwich community with its past enriches both the present and the future. We also work hard to ensure that the “global perspective” of a Norwich education includes thoughtful reflection about where we came from as a university and as a nation.

Here are just a few of the ways that the Norwich Archives has impacted our community:

  • Opening doors for the whole world to learn about the Norwich legacy by making thousands of historical documents, newspapers, and photographs available online
  • Providing students with hands-on classroom experiences that connect them with the story of Norwich and the role they play
  • Enabling faculty, staff, alumni, and affiliates to permanently contribute their voice to Norwich history by donating personal papers
  • Making connections with other repositories and facilitating academic research in order to grow our understanding of Norwich’s role in the nation

This American Archives Month, we encourage you to share the impact that the Norwich Archives has had on your life! Send us an email or leave a comment below.
